Sangha Continuation Day and other practice opportunities

Dear friends –

We just completed a wonderful weekend retreat celebrating the one-year anniversary of the 2011 Vancouver retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village monastics. Now, Waves and Water Sangha will celebrate our SANGHA CONTINUATION DAY with an informal tea ceremony on Thursday, August 23. Please bring poems, stories, songs — or simply your silent, smiling practice!

If you check our website at www.wavesandwater.org you will see that there are many practice opportunities in Vancouver and at Mountain Lamp this fall.

PLUM VILLAGE monastics will be here for a retreat at Rivendale (which is full) then for a Day of Mindfulness with the Vietnamese community (Sunday, September 9); a public talk and book signing at Banyen Books (Tuesday, September 11, 6:30); a non-residential retreat at the Centre for Peace (Thursday September 13 to Saturday, September 15: Contact ourbowenhome [at] yahoo.com); and a GATHERING FOR GREATER VANCOUVER SANGHAS at St. James Church 303 Cordova St. E. (Monday, September 17, 6:30).

We are planning a DAY OF MINDFULNESS in Vancouver at the Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday, September 29, weather permitting (contact wwsangha[at]gmail.com). There is also a Labyrinth Walk at Mountain Lamp on Saturday, October 30 (Carpooling contact wwsangha[at]gmail.com) (Registration contact ml-info@mountainlamp.org). Mountain Lamp events may all be found at www.mountainlamp.org – including a retreat with Brother Phap Hai from Deer Park at the end of August.
May we practice together with open hearts and open minds!
