Waves and Water Sangha

Waves and Water Sangha members arrive not only from around the lower mainland of British Columbia but also from Western Canada and throughout the United States (thanks to Zoom). We practice mindfulness and meditation as a community. We study and practice the Dharma teachings as a community.

Many of us attended the retreat or public talk with Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village monastics in 2011. Some of us have come from another spiritual tradition and some of us are new to spiritual practice. There may be 8-24 of us gathered at any one time. Always, we are happy to be practising as a Sangha!

CARETAKING COUNCIL

We have formed a Caretaking Council of committed practitioners who work together to establish our practice, our space, our sense of community. Council members currently include Susu Myint (True Concentration on Gratitude) and Louise St. Pierre (Deep Commitment of the Heart). Caretaking Council meetings are open to all Sangha members and comments, questions, concerns are welcome. You may contact us through wwsangha@gmail.com

All Sangha members are welcome to attend Caretaking Council meetings and contribute to our decision making process. They are generally held every two months. After  deep listening and loving speech, decisions are made by consensus of the Council members.

All Sangha members have the opportunity to learn particular practices (sounding the bells, teaching tea service, maintaining the website, chanting, leading Dharma study and Dharma discussion, etc.) This is not a requirement for Sangha participation! If you are interested in training, please let us know – we are always happy to nourish individual practice and support the Sangha in this way.
