If you are joining Waves and Water Sangha for the first time, please send a message in advance to wwsangha@gmail.com. We can answer any questions you may have and you can tell us the name you will use for your audio/video presence on-line. We need to be able to recognize this name in order to let you through the waiting room into the Zoom Sangha.
Please leave your video camera on as much as possible, especially, when you enter and during Dharma discussion. If you are unable to leave your camera on at certain times, it is lovely if we can see a static image of yourself! This supports our sense of Sangha community. Please know that some have good reason to not use their camera from time-to-time. This includes on-line data limits or internet speed, the need to care for others, or the need to practice lying down.
Also, please Subscribe via Email to our Blogpost. You can find the “subscribe” box under Thich Nhat Hanh’s photograph in the right hand column of all website pages. We rarely have more than one blogpost per month. If we have more than one, it is probably because there is an immediate change that we want to communicate!
On Sunday evenings we practice two periods of sitting meditation (20 minutes) and movement meditation (8 minutes) during the first hour. During movement meditation is the time to take a bathroom break or get a cup of tea if you need one! In the second hour we have a program of study and practice presented by members of the Caretaking Council or core members of the Sangha. Most Sundays include small break-out groups for Dharma Discussion.
Out of respect for the start time, please join us 10 minutes early and enjoy silent meditation to hold the space for our arriving friends. If you are a bit late joining us, we will admit you through the waiting room as soon as someone notices your request to enter – usually within the first 10 minutes of sitting. If you are joining us at 6:55 or 7:25 please be in the waiting room a bit early so we can admit you within that window.
OFFERING DANA –
We appreciate the generosity of all those who gather to practice. We honour the Service Dana so many have contributed over time. This includes members of the Caretaking Council, good spiritual friends who offer guidance and support along the path.
Financial Dana continues to support Waves and Water Sangha even when we are not paying weekly rents. We will want to meet in person from time to time and we have increased costs because of meeting through Zoom. The suggested contribution is $5 per participation. NO practitioner will be turned away because they cannot offer financial support at that moment.
To arrange an e-transfer or send a cheque, please contact Susu Myint via wwsangha@gmail.com. We can accept cheques made to “Waves and Water Sangha Vancouver.”
Mountain Rain Zen Community We continue to offer gratitude to Mountain Rain Zen Community. They have hosted us with an open heart over the last 11 years and we anticipate returning to the Zendo from time to time.
