Joyfully Sharing the Merit
\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Blessed Ones who dwell in the world, grant to us compassion.
\nIn this and countless lives before, from beginningless time,
\nour mistakes have caused much suffering to ourselves and others.
\nWe have done wrong, encouraged others to do wrong,
\nand given our consent to acts of killing, stealing, deceiving,
\nsexual misconduct, and other harmful actions
\namong the Ten Unwholesome Deeds.<\/p>\n

Whether our faults are known to others or whether they are hidden,
\nThey have brought us to the realms of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals,
\ncausing us to be born in places filled with pain and suffering.
\nWe have not yet had the chance to realize our full potential.
\nToday we are determined, with one-pointed concentration,
\nto repent the obstacles of our past unwholesome actions.
\n( BELL )<\/p>\n

Blessed Ones, be our witness and look upon us with compassion.
\nWe surrender before you and make this aspiration:<\/p>\n

If at all within this very life and countless lives before, we have given,
\neven if only a handful of food or simple garment;
\nif we have ever spoken kindly,
\neven if only a few words;
\nif we have ever looked with eyes of compassion,
\neven if only for a moment;
\nif we have ever comforted or consoled,
\neven if only once or twice;
\nif we have ever listened carefully to wonderful teachings,
\neven if only to one talk;<\/p>\n

if we have ever offered a meal to monks and nuns,
\neven if only once;
\nif we have ever saved a life,
\neven if only that of an ant or worm;
\nif we have ever recited a sutra,
\neven if only one or two lines;
\nif we have ever been a monk or a nun,
\neven if only for one life;
\nif we have ever supported others on the path of practice,
\neven if only two or three people;
\nif we have ever observed the mindfulness trainings,
\neven if imperfectly;
\nall this merit has slowly formed wholesome seeds within us.
\nToday we gather them together like a fragrant flower garland
\nand, with great respect, we offer it to all Awakened Ones \u2013
\na contribution to the fruit of the highest path.
\n( BELL )<\/p>\n

Opening our hearts wide to the Perfect Highest Awakening,
\nwe are resolved to attain Great Understanding.
\nWe will realize compassion and embody deep love.
\nWe will practice diligently, transforming our suffering
\nand the suffering of all other species.<\/p>\n

Please transfer the merits of body, speech, and mind
\nto the happiness of people and all other beings.
\nApart from bodhicitta and apart from the thirst
\nfor great understanding and the embodiment of love,
\nthere is no other desire in us.<\/p>\n

All Buddhas in the Three Times and the Ten Directions
\nhave offered their merit as we are doing today.
\nRepenting all our faults, we joyfully contribute
\nto the immeasurable ocean of merit
\nand the towering peaks of the highest understanding.
\nThe Buddhas and the Ancestral Teachers
\nare the light which shows us the way.
\nIn this solemn moment, with all my life force,
\nI come back to myself and bow deeply with respect.
