Waves and Water Sangha members arrive not only from around the lower mainland of British Columbia but also from Western Canada (thanks to Zoom). We practice mindfulness and meditation as a community. We study and practice the Dharma teachings as a community.
Many of us attended the retreat or public talk with Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village monastics in 2011 – 14 years ago now! Among us we have experienced week-long, month-long, and three-month retreats at Plum Village Practice Centres.
There may be 8-18 of us gathered at any one time. Always, we are happy to be practising as a Sangha! Everyone exploring a commitment to Plum Village practice within the established framework of Waves and Water Sangha are welcome to attend.
CARETAKING COUNCIL
We have formed a Caretaking Council of committed practitioners who work together to establish our practice, our space, our sense of community. Council members currently include Practice Elder Bethan Lloyd (True Spacious Mind), Susu Myint (True Concentration on Gratitude), Louise St. Pierre (Deep Commitment of the Heart), Vincci Shui (Gentle Patience of the Heart), Alison Maddaugh (Refreshing Wonder of the Heart), Jane Dyson (Compassionate Listening of the Source). Caretaking Council meetings respond to Sangha members and comments, questions, concerns are welcome. You may contact us through wwsangha@gmail.com
Sangha members are welcome to offer comments and questions for discussion at the Caretaking Council meetings. This will contribute to our decision making process. After deep listening and loving speech, decisions are made by consensus of the Council members.
All Sangha members have the opportunity to learn particular practices (sounding the bells, offering tea service, maintaining the website, chanting, leading Dharma study and Dharma discussion, etc.) This is not a requirement for Sangha participation! If you are interested in training, please let us know – we are always happy to nourish individual practice and support the Sangha in this way.
